Happy Halloween

We haven't seen the Sock Monkey in a while, but here he is all dressed up for Halloween. I stamped the monkey with Jet Black StazOn on Whisper White and colored him with my watercolor pencils and blender pens. I then stamped the jack-o-lantern and colored it in with my watercolor pencils and blender pens as well. I cut it out and adhered it over my monkey's head. I layered a piece of Chocolate Chip underneath it, added a photo corner in Creamy Caramel and adhered it to a Pumpkin Pie card. Nothing fancy here, but I think the pumpkin head makes a statement.

Baby Gift

We had a baby shower lunch at work last week for one of the nurses who is due in November. All of our co-workers pitched in and bought the supplies to make a scrapbook for her. We then gathered at my house to put our pages together to fill her book. She loved it! This was the card I made to go on the gift. I started with a Bashful Blue card and added a strip of DSP from the Rock-a-Bye Boy Simple Scrappin' Kit. I stamped the elephant from Wild About you in Bashful Blue on Whisper White and mounted it to a piece of Chocolate Chip. I added a piece of 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon around the card and adhered my elephant. I then stamped "baby" from Everything Baby in Chocolate Chip an "welcome" in Old Olive. There were so many of us that worked on the scrapbook for her that there was barely room for everyone to sign the inside.

Again, sorry for the blurry picture. I'll try to remember to take my camera down to the stamping studio from now on and stop taking pictures on the fireplace mantel.

I love this!!!!

OK, this picture came out much better than the front of the card (see yesterday's post). I'm so excited because I finally caved and bought a personalized stamp. I typically use the old Angel Policy stamp that has the little tag like this one, but without my name on it. But now my cards will say they were stamped by ME!!!! I didn't realize just how much I would love having this stamp, but I'm ridiculously excited!!!

Liam Takes the Cake!

So here is the kind of card you end up when you realize you have no birthday card for a 4 year old boy already made up and have to head out for a 4.5 hour drive for the party. It's quick. It's simple. And the picture is blurry (sorry). I used my Chocolate Chip and Barely Banana markers to ink up the cupcake from Party Hearty and stamped in on Whisper White. Using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up, I stamped the candles in Bashful Blue. I adhere my cupcake to a piece of Barely Banana, which I wrapped a little hemp twine around. I adhere a strip of Chocolate Chip to my Bashful Blue card and added my cupcake. I then stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip.

I hate to post and run, but I have a birthday party to get to.

Striped and Scalloped

This is a card I made for my new downline member, Leanne. I wanted to use my new Say it with Scallops set (which benefits Ronald McDonald House). I started with a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock which I stamped with Classic Stripes Background. I adhered it to an Old Olive card. I then took a scrap of Real Red and tied a piece of Alpine Ribbon (from the Holiday Mini) around it and adhered it to my card. I stamped my sentiment in Old Olive on Very Vanilla and punched it out with my Scallop Square punch. I adhered it to a slightly larger Chocolate Chip square and adhered it to the Real Red piece with Stampin' Dimensionals. This card was based on SC197 on SCS. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I'm sure Leanne will love it!

Party Hats

I love a simple card that comes together really quickly and uses up scraps. This is one of them. I stamped the row of hats from Party Hearty in Bashful Blue on Whisper White. I then stamped two of them in Night of Navy on a scrap of Whisper White and one in Real Red. I cut them out and glued them on top of the Bashful Blue ones. I adhered a scrap of Real Red behind it and then a scrap of Night of Navy underneath. I adhered it to my Bashful Blue card and stamped my sentiment in Night of Navy. Woo-hoo! No cutting (other than the Real Red and Night of Navy hats) involved! So quick and easy!

Girly Drink

Who doesn't need a girly drink on a Saturday? OK, I admit I'm not much of a drinker. But this stamp set is just so cute. I stamped the martini from Cheers to You with Jet Black StazOn and colored it in with my Old Olive, Real Red, and Gable Green markers. I cut it out with my Coluzzle, then using Tombo Mono Multi I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I then layered my Basic Black, Gable Green, and Real Red pieces of cardstock onto a Old Olive card base. I did add a bit of Basic Black 1/4" grosgrain ribbon to the Gable Green piece. I added my martini glass and stamped the sentiment in the bottom corner. I used one of the sketches from SCS for this card, but I don't remember what sketch number it is.

Well, I won't be drinking tonight because I'm going to a crop. I'm not going to work on scrapbooking, though. I'm going to be making my Christmas cards. I hope you get some stamping time today!

Scrapbook Class

Tonight was scrapbook class. I did class is two shifts tonight which was kind of fun and was nice because there was then a little more table room for everyone. We did Thanksgiving pages this month. I don't have a Thanksgiving stamp set, so I had to improvise. So we used Season of Friendship from the Holiday Mini catalog as well as Thanks for Everything. So we started with our Really Rust pages and we stamped the tree in the bottom corner in Chocolate Chip. We then stamped the leaves in Sage Shadow, Really Rust and More Mustard and punched them out with the 3/4" Circle Punch. Some of the gals also used the bird stamp for their tree. We then adhered each of the leaves to our tree. I let each of the gals pick which DSP from Autumn Vine they wanted for their pages. I don't think anyone picked the same pattern. We then adhered a 2" strip to the first page and a 3" strip to the second page. We added the 4 1/4" x 12" strip of More Mustard to each of the pages. The title was stamped in Chocolate Chip and Really Rust on Whisper White, layered on Chocolate Chip and added to our More Mustard strip. We then added a Sage Shadow leaf which was punched with the 3/4" Circle Punch and layered on a 1" Sage Shadow circle. We added two Sage Shadow photo mats. The mat on the second page as a Chocolate Chip Round Tab with a little Sage Shadow bird on it. If you look really closely at my page where the Round Tab is you can see dog snout marks as he kept sniffing my page while I was trying to take this picture.

Bold Bright Birthday

Here's a color family you don't see very often! I used all Bold Brights for this card. I started with a Tempting Turquoise card and added a piece of Real Red. I stamped the "b" image in Tempting Turquoise on Whisper White and mounted it on a piece of Basic Black. I adhered it over the piece of Real Red. I then stamped my sentiment "party hearty!" in Basic Black on Gable Green and adhered it over the Basic Black piece. OK, wow, that was an easy card. This seems like an appropriate card for my day today. We went to breakfast at The Pub and my hubby celebrated the 1st birthday of The Pub with cheap beer.
This was one of the cards we made at last week's World Card Making Day event. This stamp set, Cheers to You was available in Europe in last year's catalog and I was so excited when SU! added it to the US Fall/Winter IB&C. I started with a Basic Gray card and added a piece of More Mustard Patterns DSP to it. I added a piece of Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around it. I stamped my beer mug with Jet Black StazOn on Whisper White and colored it in with More Mustard and a blender pen. I adhered it to a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and stamped the sentiment with Jet Black StazOn.

I'm sure you'll see more cards with this set soon.

Creepy Crawly

This cute little guy was my box for the Chinese Raffle at the Quarter Auction on Tuesday. It held a Small Star Punch, which was the raffle item. This box was so easy to make! I started with a piece of Basic Gray 12" x 12" cardstock. I cut a 4" x 4" square out of each corner, then scored each of the leftover "flaps" and folded them up. I used my Scallop Edge punch across the top of each piece and punched a hole in each corner to thread my Black Gingham ribbon through. I took a strip of Only Orange and scalloped one edge. I then added two of the strips that were left over from the scallops on the box. I added it to the front of my box. I stamped the spider from Batty for You in Basic Gray on Whisper White and punched it with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. I mounted it on a Basic Black Scallop Circle. I added the dots to the scallops with my White Signo Gel Pen and added the scallop to my box. To finish it off I added some white tissue paper to the inside of the box and some Only Orange strips of paper that I ran through my crimper. Lastly, I placed the punch for the auction inside. This came together so quick and turned out so cute. I think the punch was much better received in this little box than it would have been by itself, therefore resulting in more raffle entries (which is good since the money went to charity).

Quarter Auction Door Prize

We always have a few small door prizes at the Quarter Auctions and this is my door prize for this month. I was feeling super adventurous (for me anyway) on Sunday and spent more hours that I'm willing to publicly admit in my stamping studio making cute little holders for things. This was one of them. Isn't it more fun to receive a door prize in a cute little pouch, then just by itself? I used a template from SU! for the pouch. I traced it onto a piece of Only Orange (again!) cardstock and scored where needed. I cut it out and assembled it. I then added a belly band of Basic Black which I had used my Scallop Edge punch on and added some Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. I stamped Frankenstein from Batty For You in Old Olive and punched it out with the 1 3/8" circle punch. I then adhered it to an Old Olive scallop circle. I used my White Signo Gel Pen to add dots to the scallops on the scallop circle and the belly band and adhered the scallop to my pouch. I added my Stampin' Write Journaler to my pouch and some strips of Old Olive cardstock that I ran through my crimper. I hope the winner likes it.

Candy Corn

I typically stick to cards and scrapbook pages with the occasional altered item, but I don't know what got into me yesterday. I was making all sorts of boxes and pouches and other little items. This is one of the items I made that I didn't really have a purpose for, but thought it would be cute. I got this cone box template from SU! and traced and cut it out on Whisper White. I then cut a piece of Only Orange to fit the top and a piece of Yo-Yo Yellow to fit the middle. I adhered them to the box, then added the pumpkin image from Batty For You which I had stamped with Only Orange and punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch. OK, pause here for you to pick your jaws up off the floor since I used two colors that I never use. I used my double circle punch to make holes to thread the grosgrain ribbon through and then I added some crimped Only Orange and Yo-Yo Yellow paper strips to the inside. Now I just need to find a treat to put in it.

Spooky

So I'm sure you've seen this a hundred times over, but here's my take on it. Now most people have been using the medium Spooky Spider, but I went with the small one. I wasn't a huge fan of having to wrap the legs underneath the jar. So I got this huge jar, added my Spooky Spider and an extra web length. Then I added an extra web length to the lid, wrapped some Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around the top, stamped an image from Batty For You, punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch, added it to a scallop circle and tied to the ribbon with some hemp twine (run-on sentence anyone?). I added some Hershey's Minitures candy because no one likes and empty candy jar. Color Inspired Tree

When I saw Kristina's color inspiration challenge this week I was so excited as it is the perfect color combo to use my new Season of Friendship stamp set which is now available in the Holiday Mini. I waited oh so patiently all morning for Mr. Brown to show up and when he finally did it was downstairs to the stamping studio to make my challenge creation. And here is what I came up with.

I started with a Pumpkin Pie card base to which I added a Chocolate Chip layer. I then took a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the tree from Season of Friendship in Chocolate Chip and the leaves on the branches in Old Olive (in place of Kiwi Kiss for the color challenge) and Pumpkin Pie. I then added some fallen leaves below the tree in Pumpkin Pie. Some of the leaves had been stamped off before stamping them on my card layer. I wrapped some Alpine Originals felt ribbon around my tree and adhered it to my card with Stampin' Dimensionals. Once I saw it all put together I thought it still needed some sort of sentiment, so I stamped "thank you" from Short & Sweet in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla, punched it out with my small oval punch and layered it on a piece of Chocolate Chip that was punched with the large oval punch and added the oval to my card.
