If you check out the links of recommended stamping blogs over on my side bar you will see kwernerdesignblog. Kristina is a great stamper with a very clean style, which appeals to me since I'm a simple stamper myself. She offers up color inspiration on her blog. This weeks color inspiration is Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, and Close to Cocoa. I decided to give it a go. I needed a card for a girlfriend who I recently had a good talk with. I want to thank her for being there for me. Well, my memory isn't very good (or maybe I just don't pay attention very well) so I accidentally used Chocolate Chip instead of Close to Cocoa. Oh, well. I still like the way it turned out.
I used one of my favorite retired sets (it's probably my most favorite retired set) You Make Me Happy. I stamped my flowers in So Saffron on Whisper White. I used the masking technique to overlap my flowers. I stamped the centers of the flowers in Chocolate Chip and the stems in Certainly Celery. I mounted my Chocolate Chip layer to my So Saffron base. I then added my strip of Certainly Celery across the Chocolate Chip layer, then added my stamped images. I added a little Certainly Celery 1/4" grosgrain ribbon along the bottom as well. On a scrap of Whisper White I stamped the butterfly in Bashful Blue and punched it out with my 1 1/4" circle punch and layered it on a 1 3/8" circle of Bashful Blue. I mounted it to my card with Stampin' Dimensionals and added a little Fine Cosmo glitter to the center of the butterfly. I thought that the flowers were kind of blending together, so I used my Chocolate Chip marker to outline each of the flowers (and crossed my fingers that I didn't mess up since the card was all put together at that point). I like how they are defined. I then stamped my flower on my envelope for the perfect presentation.
