Birthday Girl

I think this was my favorite project that I entered in the contest. After seeing all the cute flowers people were making out of the folded strip I thought it would make a cute badge. I cut a strip of Sweet Always DSP and punched the edge with the Scallop Edge punch. I then scored at each dip of the scallop and folded each one in opposite directions. I attached the two ends of the strip with Sticky Strip. I then punched a 1 1/4" Circle of DSP and layered it on a 1 3/8" Circle punched from Pumpkin Pie. I attached the circles with Sticky Strip. I then cut a strip of Pretty in Pink and stamped "Birthday Girl" with Simple Serif Mini Alphabet in Chocolate Chip. I cut the ends and attached it with glue dots. I also attached a circle to the back of the badge and adhered the Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon to it with Sticky Strip. I also adhered a pin to the back, so it could be worn. Maybe I'll have to recreate one of these to wear on my birthday (in 11 days!).

Creepy Crawly

This cute little guy was my box for the Chinese Raffle at the Quarter Auction on Tuesday. It held a Small Star Punch, which was the raffle item. This box was so easy to make! I started with a piece of Basic Gray 12" x 12" cardstock. I cut a 4" x 4" square out of each corner, then scored each of the leftover "flaps" and folded them up. I used my Scallop Edge punch across the top of each piece and punched a hole in each corner to thread my Black Gingham ribbon through. I took a strip of Only Orange and scalloped one edge. I then added two of the strips that were left over from the scallops on the box. I added it to the front of my box. I stamped the spider from Batty for You in Basic Gray on Whisper White and punched it with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. I mounted it on a Basic Black Scallop Circle. I added the dots to the scallops with my White Signo Gel Pen and added the scallop to my box. To finish it off I added some white tissue paper to the inside of the box and some Only Orange strips of paper that I ran through my crimper. Lastly, I placed the punch for the auction inside. This came together so quick and turned out so cute. I think the punch was much better received in this little box than it would have been by itself, therefore resulting in more raffle entries (which is good since the money went to charity).

Quarter Auction Door Prize

We always have a few small door prizes at the Quarter Auctions and this is my door prize for this month. I was feeling super adventurous (for me anyway) on Sunday and spent more hours that I'm willing to publicly admit in my stamping studio making cute little holders for things. This was one of them. Isn't it more fun to receive a door prize in a cute little pouch, then just by itself? I used a template from SU! for the pouch. I traced it onto a piece of Only Orange (again!) cardstock and scored where needed. I cut it out and assembled it. I then added a belly band of Basic Black which I had used my Scallop Edge punch on and added some Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. I stamped Frankenstein from Batty For You in Old Olive and punched it out with the 1 3/8" circle punch. I then adhered it to an Old Olive scallop circle. I used my White Signo Gel Pen to add dots to the scallops on the scallop circle and the belly band and adhered the scallop to my pouch. I added my Stampin' Write Journaler to my pouch and some strips of Old Olive cardstock that I ran through my crimper. I hope the winner likes it.

Candy Corn

I typically stick to cards and scrapbook pages with the occasional altered item, but I don't know what got into me yesterday. I was making all sorts of boxes and pouches and other little items. This is one of the items I made that I didn't really have a purpose for, but thought it would be cute. I got this cone box template from SU! and traced and cut it out on Whisper White. I then cut a piece of Only Orange to fit the top and a piece of Yo-Yo Yellow to fit the middle. I adhered them to the box, then added the pumpkin image from Batty For You which I had stamped with Only Orange and punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch. OK, pause here for you to pick your jaws up off the floor since I used two colors that I never use. I used my double circle punch to make holes to thread the grosgrain ribbon through and then I added some crimped Only Orange and Yo-Yo Yellow paper strips to the inside. Now I just need to find a treat to put in it.

How Can I Work Like This?

My desk is a mess! I've been working on items for a craft/vendor fair coming up in November. And this is what happens to my desk when I work like that! I can't see it anymore!!! I have this tiny little section of desk that I'm working on. And things just keep getting buried. I've been working on some coaster picture frames for all sorts of occasions. And they have magnets on the back. Here's a close up of some of the ones I made today. These are the perfect items to use up all my retired Designer Series Paper. I think they're turning out really cute. Hopefully they'll be a good seller at the craft/vendor fair.

Come On In!

I don't have much to share with you guys right now as I've been busy with an ongoing project. I will be ready to share soon, though! For now, check out my stampers sign. I made this before my scrapbook class on Friday so I wouldn't have to answer the door while my class members filed in. I knew I wanted to have the sign laminated or covered since it was going outside (although on a covered porch). Well, I don't have a laminating machine at home, so my gracious hubby offered me one of his comic book covers. I stamped my title in Pumpkin Pie with Big Deal Alphabet and Chocolate Chip with Short Order Alphabet. I added the lady bugs in the top corner with Ruby Red, the tulip with Ruby Red and Old Olive and my butterfly in Pumpkin Pie. I mounted it to a piece of Pumpkin Pie, put it in the comic book sleeve and hung it on the door.

I'm heading out of town first thing Friday morning for the holiday weekend and I won't be back until Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Milk Carton Box

I was feeling adventurous today. I decided to go through the resources on SCS and pick a project I've never done before. I opted for the Milk Carton Box. I started with my piece of Taken with Teal cardstock, which was cut and scored according to these directions. I stamped the leaf image from Always with Taken with Teal on my Taken with Teal box. After assembly I took a strip of Whisper White which I stamped with flower images from Always in Ruby Red and Taken with Teal and wrapped it around my box. I also tied a piece of 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon around the box. I inked up a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Versamark and embossed 3 coats of silver and stamped it with another stamp from Always. This is called the Faux Metal technique. I punched it out with my 1 1/4" Circle Punch and layered it on a Ruby Red Scallop. I used my Crop-a-dile to punch a hole in the scallop and adhered it to my ribbon with a piece of silver cord. Now, to find some treats to put in it........................

Open House Today

Today I am having my new catalog Open House. I've been busy prepping for it and getting carried away with refreshments. I've been making cookies!!!!! Check them out!!! And now my counters are covered in royal icing (that needs to be cleaned up before the open house in 2 hours)!!!



I also wanted to share with you one of the projects I will be demonstrating. These covered Peppermint Patties are a great project for a Valentine's Day gift. If you have kids, these would be great fort hem to give to their classmates. And they're so easy. Start with your Scallop Circle Punch and punch out two scallop circles for each peppermint patty. Then with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch, punch out your next layer. Then stamp your image, here the Love stamp from Tagger's Dozen and punch it out with your 1 1/4" Circle Punch. Put all your layers together and attach them to your peppermint patties with a glue dot. They take no time and are so cute!

Peek-a-boo II

I told you I had fun with these boxes. Here's another one I made last Monday. I just love this stamp set, You Make Me Happy, and I was so sad that it didn't make it into the Fall/Winter Collection. I traced the template onto a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock and cut it out. I also scored where indicated on the template. I sponged Certainly Celery on the edges of the box (hard to see in the photo). I stamped the sentiment in the inside of the box in Rose Red. I stamped the flower in Tempting Turquoise on Whisper White and cut it out. I stamped the center of the flower in Rose Red on Whisper White and cut it out. I mounted the center on the flower with a dimensional. I stamped the leaves in Certainly Celery and placed the flower over them with a dimensional. I punched the square out of the inside and adhered a piece of acetate on the inside. I put the box together and wrapped a piece of Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon around it. I love it!!!!!

Peek-a-boo Boxes

I love these boxes. They are so darn cute. I made these earlier in the week for the Technique Challenge on SCS. I had so much fun with them that I made 3 in one morning. I was all settled in my stamping studio (still in my pajamas). I was so sore from the half marathon that I couldn't move, so once I got a movie in the DVD player and I was at my stamping desk I was down for the count. This was the second box I made. I used the retired set Simply the Best. I printed the template and cut it out. I traced in onto a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock and cut it out and scored where indicated. I stamped all over the box with the leaf stamp from Simply the Best. I punched out the square using my 1 1/4" square punch and adhered an acetate sheet on the inside. I stamped the saying on the inside of the box with Certainly Celery. I stamped the For You image on Very Vanilla in Certainly Celery. I cut it out and mounted it on the box with dimensionals. I then added the Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon around the outside of the box to finish it off.

Ain't it cute????
