I really wanted to use Circle Circus and while perusing the gallery I found this great card using faux buttons on the leaf. I wanted to try out Cherry Cobbler and once I got started I was afraid it would look too Christmasy, but my wonderful hubby assured me once I put a birthday sentiment on it it would not be. And I think he was right! Thanks, hubby! Oh, and I'm kicking myself for not having bought this Kraft (now Crumb Cake) cardstock before! I love it!

I finally got around to using some of my new goodies!! And can I just say I am in love with Marina Mist!?!? It's a gorgeous color!!! Happy Mother's Day

Today is my first "almost" Mother's Day. My little one didn't want to arrive before Mother's Day, but I still got some snuggle and love from my first born furbaby. I did send out two Mother's Day cards, though. One for my mom and one for my mother-in-law. And they have a good story to go with them!

I wanted to emboss on my cards, so I got out the glossy cardstock, inked up my stamp with Versamark, stamped, painstakingly colored the image with Stampin' Pastels, inked up the stamp with Versamark again and overstamped, poured embossing powder on my cardstock................and my embossing gun wouldn't work!!!! I tried it in a different outlet (even though the lamp plugged into that outlet was working) and it still wouldn't work!! I was so upset! Not that it is now dead. It is almost 6 years old after all, but because I took all that time to color in the image and now I had no way to heat it. So, with a resourceful eye I scanned the craft room to see what I could do. And it hit me! The iron!! So I headed over to sewing land and grabbed the iron. I turned it on, held it upside down, and set my cardstock on top of it. It worked!!!!!! I did have to kind of hold the cardstock down on the iron (not with my fingers!) to melt all the embossing powder and it did overcook the embossing powder easier, but it turned out OK.

My 8 year old niece had a birthday this weekend so I had to make a girly card. This was the perfect opportunity to use my new Smooch Spritz that will be available in the Summer Mini starting next month. I used the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on my Bashful Blue card base. It gave a very soft shimmery effect. I can't wait to use this spritz on more projects (and get the other two colors I didn't preorder). I'm going to have fun with this stuff!!!!!

It was fun to make a card here and there as gifts trickled in, but since I now need a bunch of cards at once I had to go the mass production route. But I think I came up with a cute design that was quick to put together. I made several cards with each animal assembly line style. I'll probably make some more using the lion, owl, and fox, which I didn't use in these ones. I love this stamp set!! The animals seem to be perfect for every baby/birthday/thank you card I need these days!! If you don't yet have it it's in the Occasions Mini which is only going to be around until the end of April, so get it while you can!!

Today I am going to a wedding. And this is the card that will be included with the gift. If you remember this card from the bridal shower you will remember that the wedding colors are burgundy, orange, yellow, and brown. So, I used those colors in my card again. I wanted a soft look on the card, so I used Stampin' Pastels to color the Medallion and sentiment which I had stamped in Versamark. I added a little ribbon and my one layer card was complete! Nursery Art

I haven't been able to share anything with you recently as my laptop went on a business trip with the hubby. But I've got it back and I have some art work to share with you! I bought these frames from IKEA to make some sort of art work for the nursery. I knew I wanted to use Fox & Friends, but wasn't sure how I was going to make them. One afternoon I sat down and just got to work. I like the idea of the uppercase and lowercase alphabet like in Defining Alphabet, but since I don't own it I'm improvised. I used Short Order Alphabet and my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The theme of the nursery is brown and white, so the monkey and owl tie in with that. I'm planning on hanging the giraffe picture in the middle since it's got some color on it. I'm so excited about how they turned out. Now I just need to get them on the wall.

Glass Etching

I originally had a glass etching class scheduled for last Saturday, but due to a winter storm the class was rescheduled for Thursday. Luckily the weather held out this time around. We've still got a lot of snow on the ground, but the roads are clear.

These are the two projects we made. The dessert plate was made with embossing. We stamped on the back of the plate with I {heart} Hearts, embossed them, and then put the etching cream on. When you wash the etching cream off the embossing comes off, too. Sometimes you have to scrub a bit, but it will eventually come off completely.

We also etched a candle holder. This one was done with the Big Shot. We ran some contact paper through the Big Shot with the Little Leaves die. After removing the leaf, we stuck the "frame" down on the the candle holder and put the etching cream in the negative image. This is a much cleaner (and less time consuming) method of etching.

Earlier this week I needed a birthday card for a beer drinker. This is what he got. I wanted to add some dimension to the foam on this card, so I colored the "foam" in with my Versamarker and embossed with white embossing powder. I like the effect!!

This week's Clean and Simple Challenge on SCS was to get some inspiration from a candy store website. I chose this candy for my inspiration. I loved the black stripes. I decided to use two new stamp sets on my card because you know how fun it is to play with new stamps!! Now I don't often use hostess stamp sets (not sure why), but I just think this one is soooo cute!! I'm surprised I waited so long to get it for myself! I chose the 'happy' definition because this little elephant is so cute and smiley. How could you not be happy just looking at him?!?!

Last week's Clean and Simple Challenge on SCS was to use Designer Paper. So, I dug out some retired DSP and got punching. I had to use my new 2 Step Bird Punch again!! I punched the bird with 2 sides of the paper so the wing would contrast. I stamped the sentiment and then placed the bird over top. That's it! Clean and Simple! And quick!!

Bridal Shower

I'm going to a bridal shower today and this is the card for the beautiful bride to be! Her wedding colors are orange, yellow, burgundy, and ivory. So I used Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, and Bravo Burgundy for my flowers to go with the color scheme. The cake is made with 3 pieces of Very Vanilla, which were run through the Big Shot Perfect Details Texturz plates (hard to see in the picture). There is actually no stamping on the front of this card! But I did stamp on the inside. I made this after receiving an order earlier this week and strangely the only thing from the new order that I used was Whimsical Words.

Scallop Trim Punches

As soon as my Scallop Trim Corner Punch arrived on Monday I had to give it a go with the border punch. So, I punched one corner and then I punched the other corner on the short end. Then I went all the way down the long end with the border punch. When I got to the end I lined up the corner punch and punched it out. It all lined up!! I didn't even have to measure the piece of cardstock! The corner punch doesn't have the guides like the old punches that "force" you into the corner. You have a little more room to move around, so you can line everything up very easily. These two punches combined easily create a scalloped edge piece of cardstock!! You have to try it!

......but only for a minute! My disappointment stems from the outside of my box. I've heard reports of Sale-a-bration boxes that say "Caution: opening box may cause extreme excitement." And this is the second box I've received during Sale-a-bration that does not say that. But even without the warning opening the box caused excitement. And it wasn't even all for me!!! I love going through a box of goodies and seeing what everyone else ordered. But the best part is after sorting everyone else's goodies the rest are for me!!!

Top Note Pincushions

There's no stamping here, only sewing, but I wanted to show you these pincushions because I made them using the SU! Top Note die and Big Shot. I saw the tutorial on Angie Juda's blog and had to give them a try myself. I am a sewer after all! These are way cuter than my tomato pin cushion! I just used some scrap fabric I had laying around. The only thing I did differently than Angie was to use fleece in the middle, since I didn't have any flannel on hand. They are so cute I want to make a bajillion of them!! Too bad I really only need one!

Sour cream containers are such a quick and easy favor and I thought they'd be a great thing to show my gals how to make for Valentine's Day. This is the first variation, which has been embossed. The Real Red heart was cut out and a hole punched in it with the Crop-a-dile. The small heart with punched out with the new Small Heart Punch.

p.s. There are some Reese's Peanut Butter Cup hearts hiding inside the container. :o)

Get ready for the season of love! And can I tell you that I love the new clear mount rubber stamps that Stampin' Up! is offering!?!? I put in a small order on the first day of Sale-a-bration and the Occasions Mini catalog so I could try out the new clear mount rubber stamps and get my hands on the SAB punch. I only got one stamp set, so I could give the clear mount a try and I have to say that I may be a convert! I think I may prefer the clear mount over wood mount now! I like how you can see through the block to get a better idea of where you are stamping and putting the images on the block, stamping, cleaning, and removing really isn't more time consuming than using the wood mounts. So, I would suggest when you put your SAB and Occasions Mini catalog order in you give the clear mount rubber stamps a try!

And then I was determined to use the least loved stamp in that set. I love the way it turned out. This color combo is much prettier once you put it together than it sounds. I thought the soft colors would make a good sympathy card, so that's the sentiment I opted for.

I can't get any stamping done right now. My room is a mess!! But it has a fresh coat of paint on the walls. My stamping room is in the finished basement. It is one big room, but sort of divided by a half wall. The other half of the room underwent a paint color change last week and new furniture is moving in. It's now a TV room (hubby thinks it's his man room), so this week we're finishing the paint job on the other side of the room, my stamping space. The plan is to get the room all put back together before Tuesday since my new Stampin' Up! order is coming and I want to play!!!

...is the hardest part. I am waiting for my new stamp set. I only ordered one stamp set, but knowing that the order is in and I don't have it yet makes it hard to use what I have. So to get my hind end moving I decided to take a look at the challenges over on SCS. This week's technique challenge was paper quilting. I've only done quilting once before that I recall so I figured it was time to try it again. I laid my "quilt" on a scrap of cardstock and then ran it through the Big Shot and then began assembling my card. I used markers to color my stamps and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up my sentiment. The stamped layers were adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals. I have a tendency to shy away from using Designer Series Paper on my cards (I'm afraid it makes them too busy), but this was a great way to get out of my box and I'm happy with the way it turned out!

Clean Room!!!

My stamp room is well on it's way to being the cleanest it's ever been!! My hubby is on vacation this week and the big project on the to do list was to clean out the basement. Well, my stamp room is in the basement, so it was included in the big cleaning project. My business supplies are all nice and organized on their shelves, my workshop and vendor event supplies are all neatly put away in the closet, and all the paper and ribbon scraps have been vacuumed up. The only thing left to do it organize the top of one of my long storage unit. Oh, and I'm going to shampoo the carpet. The last thing on my to do list is to get messy in there again!!!!!

My First My Digital Studio Project

I redesigned my blog using the digital version of The Write Stuff. I haven't jumped completely into My Digital Studio yet, so it was fun to play with this kit and make a blog background and banner. If you already have a photo editing program (such as Photoshop Elements) you can order digital downloads to use with your program. I don't think that digital scrapbooking is my thing, but I do like to create graphics for use on my blog and just using a digital download was a great way to do it! So if you want to try out My Digital Studio without investing in the software price (which includes A LOT of stamps and kits) try purchasing a digital download. The downloads can be purchased at my website.

Christmas Candy Bars

Here is another mass production gift. Tonight is the holiday party for the Dayton Direct Sales Network and anyone who wants to participate can bring a small item to put in each others stockings. These are what I will be putting in their stockings tonight. I wrapped chocolate bars in cardstock, which I ran through my Big Shot. Each one was wrapped with a band (also cut from the Big Shot) and a little stamped greeting was added. These went together fairly quickly (which was good since I made 26 of them!) and they are a great, inexpensive treat!

Merry Candy Canes

I wanted to decorate a sweet treat for my Bingo guests (since they are so sweet to attend the event supporting Toys for Tots), so I thought about how I could cuten up some candy canes. This was my first attempt. I kind of liked the way the cardstock folded over the candy cane, but I didn't like how I couldn't straighten the candy cane stick without the top part sticking out, so it was back to the drawing board.

This is the design I decided on. They went together much easier, took a little less cardstock, and I didn't have a crooked candy cane. Oh, and they went together really easily for mass production.

I hope that today finds you surrounded by family and friends (and turkey!). Today I wanted to share with you something I made to decorate my table during the month of November. I found this tall vase and then filled it with sticks I took off a tree that was in my yard (don't feel bad for the tree......it was not hurt in the process as it's already dead). Then I decorated the tree with acorns made from the Table Setting Bigz XL from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Now just because fall is almost over, don't think that you don't need this die. The "acorns" can also be turned into flowers!! So if you haven't gotten this die yet make sure you do before the Holiday Mini Catalog expires on Jan. 4th.

Baby Giraffe

Last week I went to a baby shower and this is the card that I included with my gift. The wrapping paper was primary colors with animals on it, so I carried that theme onto the card. I had to bust out my retired Wild About You (it is the best stamp set for a baby cards!) to keep the animal theme going. I also busted out the Big Shot to add some texture to the circle pieces (not sure if you can see that in the picture).

Embarrassing story time: I put the card on the gift, but totally left the inside blank! I didn't write anything in it or sign my name. I was so embarrassed, but I just blamed it on my pregnancy brain.

These are the pages we'll be making tonight at scrapbook class. Because I won't be having a December class I decided to make Christmas pages this month. I wanted to use the Top Note die for a page element, so I stamped the wreath image on one and left the other blank for a journaling spot. And I also love to put a strip of paper across the two pages to tie them together, so I added some DSP across the bottom. The ribbon on the photo mats is adhered under them, so you can just slide your picture underneath it so you can still center the picture on the mat.

Here is another item that was up for bid at the last quarter auction. It's the medium Jingle All the Way Decor Element applied to a wooden plate that was painted white. The ribbon used to hang the plate is retired Alpine Ribbon Originals which is available while supplies last in the Clearance Rack section of my store. I really didn't do anything original with it, though. I pretty much CASEd the sample from p. 20 of the Holiday Mini Catalog. But when you need to make a million Christmas cards they can't all be original, right?

Tile Coasters

I created these tile coaster for the quarter auction last week and they went over really well. I picked the tiles up from the local home improvement store and applied the small Inspiration Decor Elements in Chocolate to them. To protect the surface they are used on I cut squares of cork, slightly smaller than the tiles, and adhered them to the backs of each tile with some heavy duty adhesive. I hope the winner of the coasters gets a lot of use out of them (and a lot of compliments).

I got a new computer last week and am just getting my photo editing software installed, so I don't have any photos to share with you right now. I will get some new projects up here soon.

I'm working on my Christmas cards and this is one of my favorites! I love the Rock'n'roll snow flakes. It's such a simple card, but I think the technique really gives it a punch of excitement.

Halloween 2005

I'm trying to scrapbook some of my older pictures so I can finally put my book together! These are the second to last pictures of 2005 that needed scrapbooked. This was Oscar's first Halloween and he didn't really like his vampire costume, so this was the only (decent) picture of him in it. I really wanted to try my hand at some punch art, so I made the pumpkins using a few different punches. I think they turned out great. To give them a little dimension make sure to sponge the edges of each punched piece. To make the "grass" I just randomly snipped the top edge of some Old Olive cardstock and curled the pieces.

Christmas Ornaments

What's a girl to do when she can't sleep? Bust out the Stampin' Up! order that arrived yesterday and create something fantastic! That's exactly what I did this morning. I just got this Merry Moments Designer Series Paper, so I wanted to create something with that. Luckily I have these little round tins that were just screaming to be turned into ornaments! I cut circles from the DSP using my Coluzzle and adhered it inside the tins. I then filled them with that fake snow you buy at the craft store. I opted for the iridescent snow and I'm glad I did. It's so sparkly! I then put the lid on, wrapped them with a little ribbon and hung a tag from them. They came together so easily (tying the ribbon around them is the hard part) and turned out so cute!

Great Dreams

This was one of the items that I took to last week's quarter auction. And I apologize for the picture, but it was really tricky to take a picture of it since it's shiny. It is the small, white Great Dreams Decor Element applied to a silver magnetic board. This will be a great addition to an office or craft room.
